Studio D'Artisan Sizing Guide

Studio D'Artisan is one of the original Japanese denim brands, established in 1979 in Osaka. They're considered one of the "Big Four" of Japanese denim. Heavyweight selvedge on vintage shuttle looms. Japanese sizing, runs small vs American. Mostly unsanforized.

Classic straight or slim-straight cuts, mid rise. Known for distinctive fading characteristics.

Studio D'Artisan Men's Sizing

Studio D'Artisan's core fits include the SD-103 (regular straight, their most iconic model), SD-108 (slim tapered), and the D-1755 (relaxed tapered). The SD-103 is a classic mid-rise straight cut inspired by vintage 501s, using heavyweight selvedge woven on vintage shuttle looms. Studio D'Artisan's denim typically runs 14-15oz in standard offerings, with special editions going heavier.

Unsanforized versions shrink approximately 1-1.5" in the waist and 2-3" in the inseam. Size up 1-2 from American brands. One-wash versions are more predictable. A general sizing reference: a man who wears 31 in Levi's typically takes 32-33 in Studio D'Artisan. The brand's denim is known for developing distinctive blue-gold fading characteristics over time, different from the high-contrast fading of Samurai or the indigo-heavy fading of Pure Blue Japan. As one of the "Big Four" of Japanese denim, the construction quality is consistently high. Check the specific product page for garment measurements, as Studio D'Artisan publishes post-wash dimensions for each model.

Studio D'Artisan Women's Sizing

Studio D'Artisan is primarily a men's Japanese heritage denim brand. They may occasionally produce limited women's pieces, but the women's offering is not a consistent part of their lineup. Check current availability for any women's products.
